Contemporary Perspectives on Communication Studies in Latin America
Limited Capacity seats available

The session intends to debate some perspectives on Communication Studies developed in Latin American countries and possible dialogues among these approaches and the researches from others parts of the world. For that, the Latin American Communication Researchers Association (ALAIC) made a call for papers, selected and invited distinguished and important scholars from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Uruguay to present results of their studies representing a region characterized by regular researches and specific education (undergraduate and graduate) on Communication since the 1960s. The papers of this session are related to critical perspective, communication and culture, an important approach in the region, communication policies and democracy, using as reference the cases of Argentina and Uruguay, and the connections and common points among community communication, memory, and media through the interpretation from professors from Colombia, country that will receive the next IAMCR (2017) Conference
